丝网除沫器是一气液分离装置,气体通过除沫器的丝垫,可除去夹带的雾沫。本标准(HG、T21618-1998是在原化工部标准：HG5-1404-81、HG5-1405-81和HG5-1406-81的基础上,结合丝网除沫器实际使用经验及引进装置中的先进技术修订而成的。新标准和原标准比较有如下改变。
1、将原来三个标准合并为一个标准,便于选用。
2、除沫器的通径范围及规格有所调整,公称通径规格适当当密。
3、增加了除沫器所采用的丝型式,并给出了丝网的基本参数。
4、增加了丝网及格栅的材料品种。
5、增加了关于除沫器的工艺计算内容。
抽屉式除沫器采用HG、T21586-98标准,是由若干块丝网除沫元件构成,通过导轨插入塔体内。该除沫器的特点是操作、维修方面,可在塔体外更换除沫元件,适合于硫酸装置的吸收塔及干燥塔等。
丝网除沫器可采用国产进口优质材料：Q235、304、304L、321、316L、F46、NS-80、镍丝、钛丝及合金等材质供用户自选用。
现已广泛用于化工、石油、硫酸、医药、轻工、冶金、机械、环保的工业生产
